The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary Planning Department has been working with the Electoral Area ‘C’ Advisory Planning Commission on draft guidelines to encourage the protection of riparian areas along the shorelines of Christina Lake, its tributary streams, and the Kettle River.
As of March 2012, the RDKB discontinued its consideration of this issue. Based upon concerns raised by several waterfront property-owners, the RDKB does not intend to amend the Christina Lake Official Community Plan to include development permit requirements for the protection of riparian areas. We would like to thank everyone who took the time to provide input to the RDKB on this policy initiative.
