RDKB maintains an active role in the implementation of economic development initiatives within the district. Throughout our geographic regions the RDKB strives to involve all communities, businesses and industry to participate in these short and long-term economic initiatives.
The BEDC was formed by the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary to assist the Boundary region in finding grass roots solutions to their common economic problems. In this role as leader and facilitator of effective community economic development, the BEDC strives to be proactive and strategic, promote change and long-term sustainability and increase community involvement, capacity and empowerment in all local initiatives
The BEDC formed in November of 2006, consists of six elected officials from the geographic regions they serve (Christina Lake, Greenwood, Grand Forks, Midway, Area E and Area D).

The LCCDT works to advance the social & economic strength of the Lower Columbia region. The LCCDT identifies regional priorities through strategic planning sessions and utilizes working committees to address identified needs.
The purpose of the LCCDT is to advance the economic strength of the region by overseeing the development and cooperative implementation of initiatives important to the area. Through strategic planning sessions, the LCCDT identifies regional priorities and forms working group committees to address identified needs.

The result of a partnership between the 5 Eastern municipalities; City of Rossland, City of Trail, Villages of Warfield, Montrose, Fruitvale and electoral areas A & B of the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary, The Lower Columbia Initiatives Corporation (LCIC) was created in 2010 as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Lower Columbia Community Development Team (LCCDT).
Our mandate is to undertake programs and projects designed to grow and diversify the local economy (Lower Columbia Region) by attracting new business, retention and expansion of existing businesses and actively supporting and leading on priority initiatives, projects and programs that have been identified as regional economic drivers.

The Community Initiatives Program is funded by the Columbia Basin Trust and is administered by the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary.
The Regional District Community Services Commission of Greater Trail decided that the best course of action was to split the grant amongst the local communities on the basis of population.
