Curbside Recycling Pickup Calendars

Ninety percent of residents in the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary receive curbside recycling pickup service.

Recycling materials are picked up every other week with the only exceptions being Christmas and New Years Days. Holiday change notices will be printed in local newspapers in December when changes occur.

How to Use the Recycling Schedule:

Click on the 2012 Calendar on the right.

1) Locate your neighbourhood on the map
2) Identify the colour associated with your area
3) Your pickup day is the day on the calendar that matches the colour of your neighbourhood on the map.

  • Missed Your Pick-Up Date?
    Drop by the RDKB Recycling Depot located in your area.
  • The 2010 Curbside Collection Calendar was delivered to mail boxes in February 2010. (Your 2009 Calendar contained the months of January & February 2010.)

Greater Trail Area
Trail, Rossland, Warfield, Fruitvale, Electoral Area 'A' and Area 'B'

Grand Forks and Area
Grand Forks, Christina Lake, Electoral Area 'C' and Area 'D'

West Boundary
Greenwood, Midway, Rock Creek, Westbridge, Beaverdell, Electoral Area 'E'  including Mt. Baldy & Big White

Greater Trail Area

Fruitvale

  • In the Liberty Foods Parking Lot, place refundable empties in the Blue Bin in the corner of the recycling area.

Trail

  • East Trail at the McKelvey Creek Landfill 1900 Hwy 3B, Weekdays: 7am to 5:00 pm Weekends: 10 am to 5:00pm CLOSED: Statutory Holidays. This site also hosts the Product Care depots to recycle leftover paint, pesticides, solvents and residual fuels in their original containers.
  • Place refundable empties in the Blue Bin at the edge of the recycling area at the McKelvey Creek Landfill.
    Proceeds go to fund youth meals and programs at Sanctuary.

Genelle

  • Beside the Firehall
  • Refundable beverage containers' proceeds from the blue bottle bin help fund the Genelle Recreation Society.

Electoral Area 'A'

  • Columbia Gardens Recycling Centre, 9370 Hwy 22A
  • Please return your refundable beverage containers to the Trail Bottle Depot at 562 Rossland Ave. in Trail, or to point of purchase.

Also consider donating your empty pop, water, juice or alcohol containers
to service groups in your community.

Grand Forks and Area

Christina Lake

Note:  Glass is not included in the Blue Bag pickup system.  However glass can be brought to the recycling depots and put in a separate part of the bin.  Film Plastic is any plastic that can be stretched.

Grand Forks

 

  • The recycling depot is located in Downtown Grand Forks behind the Fire Hall on 72nd Av. The depot is always open.
  • Recycling available Newspaper, Office Paper, Magazines, Mixed Paper, Aluminum Cans, Cardboard, Tin Cans, All Rigid Plastic containers #1 to #7, Film Plastic & Glass

Note:  Glass is not included in the residential Blue Bag pickup system.  However glass can be brought to the recycling depots and put in a separate part of the bin.

Grand Forks Landfill

  • The recycling depots at the Landfill is only accessable during landfill operation hours.
  • Recycling available: Newspaper, Office Paper, Magazines, Mixed Paper, Aluminum Cans, Cardboard, Tin Cans, All Rigid Plastic containers #1 to #7, Film Plastic & Glass

Note:  Glass is not included in the residential Blue Bag pickup system. However glass can be brought to the recycling depots and put in a separate part of the bin.

Please return your refundable beverage containers (pop cans & bottles; juice tetra packs; beer bottles & cans; wine bottles & boxes; spirts bottles) to the Encorp Bottle Depot on Donaldson Dr., or to point of purchase.

Also consider donating your empty pop, water, juice or alcohol containers at the bin provided at the Downtown Recycling Bins. Proceeds go to Sunshine Valley Community Services who help keep the depot tidy.

West Boundary

The following items can be recycled at all depots in the West Subregion:
Newspaper, Office Paper, Magazines, Pocket Books, Catalogues, Phone Books, Clear Glass, Cardboard, Aluminum Cans, Tin Cans, All Rigid Plastic containers #1 to #7, Film Plastic, Glass. Note:  Film Plastic is any plastic that can be stretched.

Beaverdell

  • At the new Fire Hall (5896 Highway #33)

Big White

  • At the RDKB Transfer Station

Bridesville

  • Norbert Salvage & Recycling
    • will purchase the following items: Car batteries, Copper, Brass, Zinc, Stainless Steel, Aluminum (sheeting/casting, etc).
    • A pick up service is available for large quantities (over 300 lbs). (250) 446-2497.
    • Norbert Salvage also accepts all refundable bottles and cans and is a Product Care depot for leftover paint and hazardous household materials in their original containers.

Greenwood

  • Corner of Government and Providence

Idabel Lake

  • 300 Idabel Lake Drive ( Please use the Burgundy Bin for recycling.)
Midway
  • At the corner of Cleghorn and Seventh Ave.

Mt. Baldy

  • Adjacent to the Transfer Station

Rock Creek

  • At the landfill
Westbridge
  • At the transfer station on Highway 33, 1 km north of the bridge

Note: Refundable Beverage Containers are banned from the Recycling Program

Please return your refundable beverage containers to the point of purchase, Norbert Salvage and Recycling or bottle depots in Grand Forks or Kelowna.
