The Trail Regional Airport is a certified airport, owned and operated by the RDKB and is located near the Canada-US Boarder on Hwy 22A in the Columbia Gardens Industrial Park area.
Serving over 20,000 passengers in 2011 through various means, the Trail Regional Airport is seen as an important transportation asset for the Kootenay region to the lower mainland.
Current airport amenities include a 4000 ft x 75 ft non-instrument asphalt runway (Code B), terminal building, short-term and long-term parking options,and aircraft fueling stations.
In 2010 and 2011, the Trail Regional Airport was successful in securing two grants through Transport Canada’s Airport Capital Assistance Program (ACAP) for new heavy airside equipment, which included a new tow-behind runway sweeper ($215,000) and a new snow plow truck ($190,000).
