The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary provides a broad range of services to the public including: Fire & Rescue, Recreation & Culture, Emergency Preparedness, Kootenay Boundary Transit Services, Columbia Basin Trust Community Initiatives Program Administration, and West Kootenay-Boundary Regional Hospital District Administration.

The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary offers regional fire protection services in many areas.

Emergency Preparedness

After the 2003 fire season the Province of British Columbia commissioned former Manitoba Premier Gary Filmon to analize the Province's response to the Okanagan Mountain fire and the McClure fire. One of the recommendations was that all regional districts in BC must develop emergency preparedness plans.
