Disposal - The Last Resort

Please note: none of the landfills in the RDKB accept hazardous waste (PCB's etc.), tires, used oil & filters, recyclable beverage containers, or holding tank effluent.   As well, McKelvey Creek (Trail) does not accept motor vehicle bodies.

Not everything is accepted at RDKB landfills.

Since 1999, there has been a ban on landfilling any recyclable paper products.

On September 1, 2001 all materials that are accepted in local recycling programs, plus yard & garden waste were also banned from RDKB landfills. Find out what else is banned from RDKB landfills.


Transfer Stations accept household garbage and some are adjacent to recycling depots. Find out where the nearest transfer station is to your home.
